Welcome to Mordi-Bayside Roller Sports Club Inc. (MRSC)

MRSC is an enthusiastic and passionate group that enjoys the physical and social benefits of participation in roller sports in its various forms.

We encourage and support our members in the roller-sport disciplines of their choice, and actively welcome new members to our skating "family."

Precision

Precision Team Skating involves a group of skaters performing a variety of movements, patterns and formations to music. It involves a group of four or more skaters performing various group formations and manoeuvres. Precision skating is fun to do and fun to watch. Its rules are flexible enough to allow lots of original ideas and innovations. It thrives on colour and catchy music. If you are a team player this is your event.

Speed Skating

Speed Skating promotes good health, and builds fitness and strength through dynamic full-body movement patterns. Speed Skaters learn the importance of teamwork, persistence, organization and goal-setting, in an environment of good sportsmanship that fosters both team and individual achievement.

As well as being great fun and an exciting challenge, Speed Skating is a great way to make new friends, keep fit, and learn new skills. Skate Victoria offers competitions in a season which runs from August to April. (calendar)

Freeskating

The basic movements in a freeskating routine consist of jumps, spins and footwork blended in harmony with music.
Freeskating performances are skated in an interpretative manner so as to capture the tempo and the mood of the music. When one witnesses this calibre of skating by a skater it becomes a thrilling experience. Our appreciation is often a mixture of admiration for the craftsmanship of the skilful skating technician and a reflection of the combined beauty of the music, line and movement displayed in the skating program. In a Freeskating pairs routine the content includes such things as overhead lifts, throw jumps or twist lifts, shadow jumps and spins

Dance

This discipline of dance skating is much like ballroom dancing. If you enjoy music, rhythm and the skill of skating footwork, if you are more into the skill of skating than jumping then, dance, dance, dance! Partners and pairs are also encouraged.

Figures

The skater must trace a marked circle for anything from 1 to 2 full circles, with many different requirements. Turns of set sizes, take-offs rolling and standing, posture, speed and flow are all important. Figures provides us with a demonstration of skill and control.

Welcome to 2010!

MRSC is an enthusiastic and passionate group that enjoys the physical and social benefits of participation in roller sports in its various forms.

We encourage and support our members in the roller-sport disciplines of their choice, and actively welcome new members to our skating "family."

We are active participants in Skate Victoria artistic skating competitions, with members competing successfully in freeskating, dance, figures and precision team events.

The next event in which we will participate is the Victorian State Championships on the weekend of 26th & 27th June, 2010.

Our adult 'mini-precision' team: "Axelottle" participated in its debut competition in April 2009.

MRSC is on facebook also.
